The NFL placed New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers on the commissioner’s exempt list on Monday while he is investigated over an accusation of domestic violence.
The league said in a statement that it will conduct a review under its personal conduct policy and that the 26-year-old Peppers will not be permitted to attend practices or games while on the list.
The Patriots claimed Peppers off waivers from the New York Giants last month. He played in four games for New England before the NFL placed him on the exempt list.
The move allows the team to replace Peppers on the roster.
Peppers has played four seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Browns in 2017. He was traded to the Giants before the 2019 season and signed a one-year deal to return this season.
The Patriots announced the move in a note, saying only that Peppers was on the exempt list.
