The Washington Football Team beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-20 on Sunday to take the lead in the NFC East race.
Antonio Gibson ran for three touchdowns as Washington ended a five-game skid against their division rivals. The victory came two days after Washington released 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins, who had started the first four games of the season.
Montez Sweat recovered a fumble by Andy Dalton with 2:05 left to play to help Washington secure the win. Dalton had to leave the game after the hit by Sweat.
Washington quarterback Alex Smith threw for 296 yards and a touchdown in his first start since November 2018. Terry McLaurin caught seven passes for 92 yards.
Washington can win the division by beating the Philadelphia Eagles next week.
