The Pennsylvania Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit by Republican Party officials in a bid to get nearly 2.6 million mail-in ballots invalidated. This decision is a blow to President Donald Trump’s campaign to undo President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
The lawsuit argued that the state’s 2019 expansive mail-in voting law should be deemed unconstitutional. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court rejected this argument, stating that the lawsuit was filed much too late.
The justices also noted that there was no evidence that mail-in balloting had been unconstitutional in Pennsylvania. They emphasized that the lawsuit lacked factual proof to support its claims of fraud.
Trump and his lawyers have been relentless in their efforts to reverse the election results in key battleground states. However, their numerous legal challenges have been largely unsuccessful.
This latest decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is another setback for Trump’s campaign. As Biden prepares to take office, it seems increasingly unlikely that Trump will be able to successfully challenge the election results.
