Former President Trump loses effort to dismiss lawsuits filed by Stormy Daniels

A judge in New York rejected Donald Trump’s bid to dismiss two defamation lawsuits filed by the adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, sued the former president for calling her a liar after she accused him of a sexual encounter in 2006.

Trump’s lawyers argued that his statements were just political rhetoric and not defamatory. However, Judge Doris Ling-Cohan ruled that Trump’s comments were more than just opinion and could be proven false, allowing the lawsuits to proceed.

Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, hailed the decision as a victory for the rule of law. Trump’s legal team plans to appeal the ruling, continuing the legal battle between the former president and the adult film actress.
