Kamala Harris, Gov. Walz kick off bus tour in Pennsylvania
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday kicked off a national tour to promote the Biden administration’s infrastructure and jobs plan by stressing the importance of investments in broadband access.
The “Getting America Back on Track” tour started Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Organizers say the goal is to bolster public support for the plan as Congress prepares to return to Washington following its August recess.
“The president and I are determined to get everyone in America connected,” Harris said, according to prepared remarks provided by the White House. “In this 21st century economy, we need to make sure everyone can get online, not just some.”
Walz highlighted the disparities in broadband access between urban and rural areas, saying that “all of our children deserve to have access to the tools and technology they need to achieve their highest aspirations.”
The tour will include stops in Ohio and New Jersey this week, and other states in the weeks to come.
