Severe storms, delays hit Texas with hail, winds

Severe storms pummeled parts of Texas on Tuesday, causing power outages, street flooding, and hail as large as apples. Wind gusts of up to 80 mph were recorded in some areas.

The bad weather led to delayed flights at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the country. Passengers huddled inside the terminals as they waited for the storms to pass.

In Fort Worth, a police officer was injured after being struck by lightning while directing traffic. The officer was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The storms also brought heavy rain, leading to flash flooding in some neighborhoods. Emergency crews had to rescue stranded motorists from their vehicles.

The severe weather was part of a system that is expected to move eastward, bringing the threat of more storms to other parts of the country. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and take precautions to stay safe during severe weather conditions.
