The FBI and the Department of Justice held a joint press conference Tuesday, providing an update on the investigation into the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Steven D’Antuono, the assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, stated that the FBI has received over 200,000 digital media tips and has identified over 400 suspects involved in the attack. So far, law enforcement officials have arrested more than 135 individuals and continue to work on identifying and apprehending others.

D’Antuono emphasized the seriousness of the attack, calling it an “unprecedented assault on the core of our democracy.” He urged anyone with information about individuals who participated in the attack to come forward and help hold them accountable.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin stated that the investigation is one of the largest in U.S. history and involves a significant amount of resources. He highlighted the collaborative effort between federal and local law enforcement agencies to bring those responsible to justice.

Both officials reiterated their commitment to holding all perpetrators accountable and stated that the investigation is ongoing. They encouraged the public to submit tips and information to help with the investigation.
