Former President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against California Governor Gavin Newsom and two state officials, claiming that they are part of a “Resistance” movement against him. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, accuses Newsom, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber of engaging in a conspiracy to prevent him from running for office again.

Trump’s legal team argues that Newsom has been actively working to undermine him politically, citing statements made by the governor criticizing Trump. The lawsuit also alleges that Bonta and Weber are part of a scheme to prevent Trump from appearing on the ballot in California by unfairly enforcing state election laws.

In response to the lawsuit, Newsom’s spokesperson called it a “PR stunt” and stated that Trump’s claims are baseless. Attorney General Bonta’s office also dismissed the lawsuit as meritless, with a spokesperson emphasizing that the state’s election laws apply equally to all candidates.

This is not the first time Trump has taken legal action against California officials. In recent years, he has filed multiple lawsuits challenging the state’s election practices and policies. Trump’s latest lawsuit against Newsom and the other officials is yet another chapter in the ongoing legal battles between the former president and the state of California.
