Trump falsely claims he, not Biden, deserves credit for vaccines

Former President Donald Trump is falsely claiming credit for the speedy rollout of coronavirus vaccines. Not only has Trump failed to acknowledge the diligent work of his successor, President Joe Biden, in furthering vaccine distribution, but he has also inaccurately stated that the vaccines were developed during his presidency.

In reality, the vaccines were developed and authorized for emergency use after Trump had already left office. The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines received emergency use authorization in December 2020, while the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was authorized in February 2021.

Furthermore, Trump has continued to promote misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines, downplaying their efficacy and safety. His false claims only serve to undermine public confidence in the vaccines and prolong the pandemic.

It is crucial to acknowledge the efforts of all those involved in the development and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines, including the dedicated scientists, healthcare workers, and government officials working tirelessly to end the pandemic. Instead of seeking unwarranted credit, Trump should focus on promoting vaccination and combating misinformation to ensure the health and safety of all Americans.
